On loan attacker Jon Toral has shared that he’s not surprised former boss Gary Rowett has been linked with the Rangers job.
The Scottish Sun reported on Thursday morning that the 42-year-old has emerged as the second choice target to front runner Pedro Caixinha.
Rowett has previously held roles at Burton and Birmingham in his relatively short managerial career and he once worked alongside Toral in the Midlands during the 2015-16 campaign.
The young attacker initially linked up with another of his former bosses at Rangers in Mark Warburton and he has now shared he believes Rowett is a “great manager.”
“Gary is a great manager, I really enjoyed my time with him and I really learned a lot,” told Toral, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“I’m not really surprised that he’s been linked. I think he’s going to be named for every job that comes around.
“I went on loan there, I got loads of games and I felt like I was an important part of the team. He gave me that confidence to grow as a player.
“When you go out on loan it’s always good to have a manager who really believes in you. He really did treat me well and I wish him the best.”
Toral has so far struggled with Rangers after joining on loan from Premier League giants Arsenal.
However, re-linking with Rowett could help him kick-start his career in Glasgow.
The Spaniard was named Birmingham’s players player of the season alongside the supporters player of the season under Bromsgrove-born boss and he could help the Gunners attacker rediscover that fine form before the Premiership season reaches it’s climax.
The Ibrox giants will face Hamilton in the Scottish Cup on Saturday before an Old Firm derby against Celtic in 10 days time where they will be hoping to have a new man on the touchline.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are waiting on approval before offering 46-year-old managerial position.
