Jonjoe Kenny to Celtic: O’Rourke shares emphatic transfer update
Celtic are pushing to try and sign Hertha BSC’s Jonjoe Kenny in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 27-year-old is unlikely to make the move to Scotland.
Kenny had a previous spell at Parkhead which was considered to be a disaster and is a stumbling block to him making a return.
Brendan Rodgers has Alistair Johnson as his first-choice right back and also boasts Anthony Ralston as a backup option.
This isn’t considered an area of the team that the Hoops need to strengthen in, with other areas being more of a priority.
Re-signing Kenny could also be met with a negative reaction by the fans as he was part of the squad that saw the famous 10-in-a-row bid go down as Rangers ended up winning the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic are trying to strengthen their squad
Rodgers wants to enhance his squad during the upcoming January transfer window to give his team the best possible chance of competing on all fronts.
The Hoops will get a financial boost if they’re able to qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League, but it remains to be seen if Rodgers would gain any of that.

Celtic currently sit top of the Scottish Premiership while they’re preparing to face Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday (15 December).
Rodgers’ side have dropped to 21st in the Champions League table, sitting just two points away from guaranteeing they won’t qualify for the next round.
