Jordan Henderson responds to ‘huge’ Jobe Bellingham message after Sunderland win

Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham sent a message on social media after his side beat Middlesbrough 3-2.

The 19-year-old made his 100th professional appearance against the Boro, playing the full 90 minutes.

Delano Burgzorg opened the scoring for the home team in the 11th minute, before Everton-target, Dan Neil, equalised for the Black Cats in the 33rd minute.

It was Sunderland who took the lead next, thanks to Wilson Isidor, who has just signed permanently for the Black Cats, scoring six minutes after half-time.

Hayden Hackney made it 2-2 with a well-hit strike from outside the 18-yard box, but a late own-goal from Ryan Giles in the 87th minute would give Sunderland all three points.

The result against Middlesbrough leaves Sunderland in fourth, just three points behind Sheffield United, who are second in the Championship table.

Bellingham has established himself as a key figure in Sunderland’s push for promotion, playing 27 matches in the league, and getting four goals and three assists from midfield.

The young midfielder has only missed three games in the league this season, allowing manager Regis Le Bris’ to rely on the talented England U20 international to be a leader on the pitch.

Following the comeback win against Middlesbrough, Bellingham posted a message on his Instagram, saying: “Huge win tonight and another great shift from all the boys in a tough game, where we were up against it at times. So proud to be part of this team and represent this club on my 100th professional appearance.”

Former Sunderland man, Henderson, responded with applause and love heart emoji’s.

The win clearly meant a lot to the Sunderland players, but Keith Hackett warned that Isidor was “unwise” with his post-match celebrations.

Sunderland will face Watford at the Stadium of Light in their next game, on 8 February, as they look to move into the automatic promotion spots.
