Jordan Pickford could quit Everton this summer after journalist's Tottenham update - expert

Everton may not be able to “afford” to keep Jordan Pickford this summer.

That is the view of former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old’s future at Goodison Park.

Pickford has been Everton’s standout player in the 2021-22 campaign.

However, according to talkSPORT‘s Alex Crook (5 May), the Toffees are ready to listen to offers for their number one goalkeeper even if they avoid relegation.

Tottenham and Newcastle United are said to be monitoring the goalkeeper’s situation on Merseyside.

Pickford has just over two years remaining on his contract at Goodison Park.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Pickford’s future, Robinson said: “There will be suitors for him because he is a top-class keeper.

“I have always been a big supporter of his. People are so quick to criticise England number one. Everyone has an opinion on you. Every goal that you let in is scrutinised. There is always a young keeper who is better than you are.

“Pickford has produced big performances in big games for Everton and England over the past 12 months. The last few weeks have been tough for Everton but he has stepped up to the mark. He has the mentality to deal with the pressure. He has the ability and mindset you need to be a top keeper.

“Everton are a huge club but there are bigger teams out there. I think Pickford will go on to play for a better side.

“I’m not sure they can afford to keep hold of him, if I’m honest. I think he’ll go this summer or next.”
