Jorgen Strand Larsen’s new Wolves contract details revealed

The details of Jorgen Strand Larsen’s new contract offer at Wolves have been revealed, and now the club are waiting on whether he accepts.

Strand Larsen was pursued by Newcastle in the transfer window, with Wolves having to reject bids for their star striker.

Wolves only permanently signed Strand Larsen in the summer from Celta Vigo after he spent last season on loan at Molineux.

The 25-year-old was a major play as Wolves survived the drop under Vitor Pereira and after the club lost key stars this summer they are currently pointless at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Jorgen Strand Larsen set to be offered ‘traditional contract’

Wolves will be taking an approach to Strand Larsen’s new contract which worked for former stars Ruben Neves, Pedro Neto and Diogo Jota.

As per The Athletic, [12 September], “there is real hope that a new contract can be agreed in the coming weeks,” between Wolves and Strand Larsen.

Strand Larsen’s new deal wouldn’t just “reflect his enhanced status” at the club but may also include a release clause.

Discussions are likely to include the possibility of a release clause, similar to the one inserted in Cunha’s new deal,” it was stated.

While such a clause cannot be ruled out, Wolves will likely offer Strand Larsen a more traditional contract, complete with the tacit agreement that covers so many of the club’s relationships with their players — namely, that anyone who performs well for Wolves over two or three seasons will not have the club stand in their way when an attractive move presents itself.

In Strand Larsen’s case, Wolves made it clear that one good season was not enough for them to consider selling him this summer, but they are expected to make clear that they will repay sustained performances by taking a realistic view of any future offers.”

Wolves sold Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, Rayan Ait-Nouri joined Manchester City, and Nelson Semedo also departed over the summer so Strand Larsen is likely to earn his move away one day.

Strand Larsen out of Newcastle clash

The Norwegian will not come up against the club who wanted him over the summer, as the striker is out injured for the clash against Newcastle.

Strand Larsen missed Wolves’ defeat against Everton, and without the striker Pereira’s side do not look as threatening going forward.

Tolu Arokodare could make his debut for the club in Strand Larsen’s absence, another test to whether Pereira’s side can cope without their star.

Pereira has a tough ask keeping Wolves in the Premier League following their transfer business and poor start to the new season.

Tying Strand Larsen down to a new contract would be a relief and help the club move forward without speculation hanging over his future.
