Filip Jorgensen ‘earns Chelsea shot’, regular starter to be axed from first XI
Filip Jorgensen deserves a chance to start in the Premier League for Chelsea after his performance against Heidenheim, according to Peter Crouch.
The Dane moved to Stamford Bridge from Villarreal in the summer but is yet to make an appearance for the club in the Premier League.
Robert Sanchez has so far held done the place between the posts in league, but has been far from convincing at times.
In contrast, Jorgensen has impressed in the cup competitions, was outstanding in helping Chelsea to a 2-0 win over the German side in the Europa Conference League on Thursday (28th November).
Crouch therefore, believes that the 22-year-old now deserves the chance to make himself first choice for the Blues when it comes to league action.
Speaking on TNT Sports (7:45pm) about the decision manager Enzo Maresca now faces in goal after that game, the former Liverpool and Tottenham striker said: “It just shows here Chelsea didn’t have it all their own way tonight. They had to rely on Jorgensen quite a few times.
“I think he deserves a shot, I have to say. There’s been a lot of talk around Sanchez, there’s been a few mistakes, he’s nervy at times.
“Every time I’ve seen him [Jorgensen] play he hasn’t put a foot wrong.”

Football Insider Opinion
There does seem to be a case to be made for Jorgensen getting his chance in the Premier League for Maresca’s side.
Despite some pre-season doubts, this Chelsea side looks to have become one that can compete for some considerable success over the course of the campaign.
If they are to do that though they will need a goalkeeper who is going to be reliable between the posts, and will not make any costly errors.

Sanchez has been guilty of those on a number of occasions since he moved to Stamford Bridge, which could hamper those efforts during the season.
Jorgensen though has done very little wrong in the Conference League, and if he can transfer that form to the Premier League could be a more solid option to help his side to those all important positive results.
With that in mind, it would seem to make sense for Chelsea to at least take a look at what the Dane can do in English top-flight action, so they have a full understanding of all their best options.
Much of the focus has been on unsettled forward Christopher Nkunku‘s hopes of breaking into the league XI, and while he scored again in Germany he likely won’t get the nod thanks to some glaring misses.
But Jorgensen’s performance was the reason that Chelsea kept a clean sheet and were able to return with what looked like a comfortable win, although it was a far tighter affair than the scoreline suggested.
