West Ham defender Jose Fonte has revealed that his side are looking to finish in the top half of the table, and put his side’s recent run down to the change in system.

The Hammers delivered their best performance of the season at the London Stadium last Friday night as they dented local rivals Tottenham’s chances of lifting the Premier League title.

It was their seventh league victory at their new home ground but it appeared to be the first time where West Ham fans produced an atmosphere that Upton Park would have been proud of.

The result means that the Hammers are now unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches and they’ve managed to keep three successive clean sheets in the process.

Speaking to the official club website, Portuguese defender Fonte expressed that he’s delighted with their recent run and he wants to continue picking up points from now until the end of the season.

“We are pleased, but we still have two games to go and two wins to get,” he stated.

“We have a massive game against Liverpool and we want to finish in the top ten, so we have got to win those two games. It’s another big game on Sunday and we want to replicate what we did against Tottenham.”

The Portuguese international also praised Slaven Bilic for recent performances as the West Ham manager has switched to a back three over the past month and it’s seen his players come up with the goods.

“We have found a good system and we’ve been excellent in the last four games, so I’m pleased, because as a defender it’s good to keep clean sheets.” he said.

“Credit to the manager who made the system work, and credit to us.”

West Ham welcome Liverpool to the London Stadium next weekend in their final home match of the season before finishing off the Premier League campaign away at Burnley.
