Jose Mourinho ready ‘to come in and spark some life into West Ham’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has tipped legendary boss Jose Mourinho to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs and their owners – insisted the Fenerbahce boss could “spark some life” into the Irons after Lopetegui’s dour reign thus far.
Wyness has previously told Football Insider (13 November) that West Ham chiefs are “unhappy” with Lopetegui with the Spanish manager “right in the crosshairs” at present.
Meanwhile, The Guardian claim (8 November) Mourinho is targeting the manager’s job at Newcastle if Eddie Howe leaves St James’ Park.
The Portuguese boss, who has previously managed Tottenham and Chelsea in London, has made no secret of his unhappiness in Turkey and desire to return to England.
West Ham currently sit 14th in the Premier League with three wins from 11 top-flight games.
West Ham told to look at potential Mourinho hire
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s interesting.
“You’d think West Ham is much more suited to Mourinho than Newcastle. It would bring him back to London again.
“I’d be looking at that situation. He’s still got a home in London, he loves it there.

“I think it’s a possibility.
“It would suit West Ham’s situation in terms of his personality for him to come in and spark some life into the club.”
