Joshua Zirkzee reacts to Andre Onana’s announcement amid Man United exit links

Joshua Zirkzee reacted to Andre Onana’s latest social media message as rumours circulate about the goalkeeper’s future at Man United.

Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez has emerged as a potential replacement for Onana already, and speculation is unlikely to go away until the summer transfer window slams shut.

Ruben Amorim faces a tough challenge of getting Red Devils back to their former glory, and until the goalkeeper position is sorted, the team will struggle for stability at the back next season.

Andre Onana makes meaningful visit away from Man United

Joining up with the Bertrand Traore Foundation, he wrote on Instagram (17 June): “I had the honour of being received by His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traore, President of Faso and Head of State.

“My deepest thanks to the President and to the Burkinabe people for their hospitality. This visit allowed me to better discover the human and cultural richness of the country.

“An unforgettable experience, full of learning. My best wishes for the future of Burkina Faso,” gaining a like from teammate Zirkzee and Wolves’ Adama Traore.

Football Insider verdict

Of course, Man United supporters have been eager to get rid of Onana for some time, but finding a good-quality replacement will not be as easy as it once was for the illustrious club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s cost-cutting methods at Old Trafford would suggest that transfer funds are few and far between, especially after the £62.5million deal with Wolves for Matheus Cunha [BBC Sport].

United remain confident of signing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, even despite the interest from Tottenham and Thomas Frank, but some outgoings will need to emerge soon to make room.

Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee have both struggled in the final third, with Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Mason Mount, and Luke Shaw all linked with exits this summer.

Mick Brown, who remains well-connected at Old Trafford, told Football Insider that Hojlund is unlikely to be at Man United next season, having only netted four Premier League goals last season.

Amorim has plenty of changes that need making, not much wiggle-room in terms of transfer funds, and several players who need shifting elsewhere before the 2025/26 campaign kicks off.
