Joshua Zirkzee says goodbye after confirmed Man United exit news

Man United forward Joshua Zirkzee took to social media to say his goodbyes to Tyrell Malacia who left the club on loan in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old returned to Dutch giants PSV, the side United bought him from for a fee of £13million back in July 2022, for the rest of the season.

Malacia ended 17 months of injury hell back in November and went on to make eight appearances for Ruben Amorim’s side before leaving on transfer deadline day.

Amorim had managed to secure a new left-back option in Patrick Dorgu, with their interest revealed by Football Insider ahead of the January transfer window, allowing Malacia to leave.

Many fans remain worried about the club’s failure to add more players, however, and some believe Amorim may start to question his position at the club due to the lack of backing.

Joshua Zirkzee‘s Man United future is up in the air

Zirkzee, 22, has failed to set the world alight since joining United in the summer, starting 13 of his 35 games across all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing two assists in his 1370 minutes of action.

Many fans have already lost faith in the striker’s ability to lead the line for the 20-time champions, urging the club to cash in and sign a replacement.

As he continued to struggle, Zirkzee took to Instagram to send a message to teammate Malacia, sharing his transfer announcement.

Man United struck by injury crisis ahead of Leicester City clash

Amorim will doubtless be hoping his side will be able to put their recent 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace behind them as they prepare for a visit from Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City on Friday in the FA Cup (February 7).

United have been hit by an injury crisis with Lisandro Martinez facing up to a year on the sidelines after tearing his ACL knee ligament last weekend.

United’s attention will their return to the Premier League as they travel to North London to face fellow strugglers Tottenham.
