Josip Juranovic: McAvennie ‘wowed’ by Celtic star and reveals how he’s been proved wrong

Frank McAvennie has been stunned by Josip Juranovic’s recent form for Celtic.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider with the defender now a permanent fixture in the side.

Juranovic, 26, had to settle for a place on the bench as Celtic put four past Motherwell on Sunday (6 February).

This came after the defender dominated Ryan Kent in Wednesday’s (2 February) win over Rangers.

Juranovic did get onto the pitch against Motherwell but only for the last ten minutes of the game.

McAvennie has been blown away by the Croatia international’s recent form and admitted his former side’s newfound strength and depth is great to see.

“Juranovic, wow, I’ve already said I was impressed with how he did up against Kent the other night,”

“I didn’t really think he was that good just after he joined but he has really found his confidence.

“He links up well with Jota as well which is great to see. Ralston can’t really get a look in these days.

“It’s just another sign of the depth we have now and that’s really what I wanted to see.

“Hopefully he keeps playing well and hopefully the team keeps playing well.”

Juranovic has featured in the Hoops’ last 16 league games, not missing a game since mid-December.

Celtic are unbeaten during this run and the defender has contributed 2 goals along with 10 clean sheets.
