Jota and Shaqiri let Liverpool down after 'knocking on Klopp's door' - Robinson
Liverpool attackers Diogo Jota and Xherdan Shaqiri will be dropped for Wednesday’s clash with RB Leipzig, according to Paul Robinson.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper said the pair were “nowhere near good enough” in the 1-0 loss at Fulham on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp made seven changes for the weekend’s clash, with Diogo Jota, James Milner, Rhys Williams, Neco Williams, Nathaniel Phillips, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri all given the nod to start.
However, it paid no dividends as the Reds slumped to their sixth successive home defeat to leave the Premier League champions hopes of qualifying in the top-four hanging by thread.
Robinson is adamant that the incoming players who flopped against Fulham were knocking on Klopp’s door last week demanding a start.
“Mane and many others are in a real rut at the moment and they cannot get out of it,” he told Football Insider.

“Klopp making seven changes on Sunday was the sign of a manager looking for a change in fortunes.
“If you look at the players he’s got there the front three haven’t changed and the service into them hasn’t changed, they are just not firing.
“Not one of the players that came in on Sunday put their hand up and said, ‘I should be playing next week.’
“I have no doubt that these players have been knocking on Klopp’s door after recent results saying, ‘Look, I deserve a chance. I want to be starting.’
“But the players that came in were nowhere near good enough. Mane lost his place to Jota and Shaqiri but neither of those did enough to keep their place this week, even though Jota worked hard.
“I do not think Mane will have any fear of his place in the team on a long-term basis.”
