Jota tipped to make Celtic sweat over permanent deal after confession - pundit
Alan Hutton has tipped Jota to force Celtic to wait before deciding on whether to sign a permanent deal.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted there would be plenty of interest in the 23-year-old after his impressive form this season.
As quoted by Football Scotland (6 May), Ange Postecoglou confirmed talks are underway over a permanent move for Jota from Benfica.
However, he confessed it is “not a simple process” and that “these things need a point where all parties agree.”
Portuguese publication Jornal de Noticias (2 May) claim Celtic are set to trigger the £6.7million (€7.5million) purchase clause.
However, Hutton suggested rival interest could see Jota bide his time before committing to anything.

“Of course, there’ll be people watching him. There’s no doubt about that,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“His performances have warranted that as well. He’s been a standout performer in big games for Celtic. Other clubs will know he’s only on loan.
“If you’re talking about English teams or whatever, £6.5million is nothing to these teams. He’s 23-years-of-age, he’s only going to get better, he’s going to know his position better and learn the more he plays.
“There’s a lot of development still to go but you can see the potential there. It’s worth teams taking an opportunity and a punt on him, if you want.
“The ball is in his court. Celtic have put their cards on the table, we want you. The ball’s back in Jota’s court so he’ll be waiting. It is what it is.
“He knows he’s got Celtic there but he’ll be waiting to see what comes at the end of the season.”
