Frank McAvennie has insisted Jude Bellingham will join Liverpool at the end of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said that if the Reds want Bellingham “he is theirs”.

On Saturday (31 December), sources told this site that the 19-year-old’s father wants him to sign for the Anfield club in the summer.

The England star has had his head turned in recent weeks by strong interest from Man City and Real Madrid and all three clubs are working hard behind the scenes to try and convince the midfielder to join them.

The Merseysiders had been close to securing an agreement with the teenager in the summer and one well-placed source has told Football Insider that the “deal was virtually done” at one stage.

Klopp is still convinced that Bellingham is the answer to his midfield problems and is desperate to bring him to Anfield in the summer.

The younger’s father has also been convinced that the Merseysiders would be the best fit.

Bellingham’s contract at Dortmund runs until 2025 and the German giants are looking for £120million-plus to let him leave in the summer.

McAvennie is convinced a deal for Bellingham will be done in the summer.

“Up front they have got an array of talent,” he told Football Insider.

“It is the midfield for me that they have got to strengthen. Klopp will know that.

“But he won’t get much done in January. Bellingham will come in at the end of the season. I think if Liverpool want him he is theirs.

“I think it would be a great signing for Liverpool I really do.“
