Jude Bellingham is huge fan of leading contender to be next Birmingham manager amid Chris Davies sack news

Chris Davies could soon find himself out of a job as Birmingham City’s poor run continues.

On Monday, the Blues were forced to settle for a draw at St Andrew’s as the tie with Southampton ended 1-1.

It now means that Birmingham have gone six games without a victory, placing them 15th in the table, seven points off the playoffs.

Davies is already under enormous pressure at Birmingham, and is now the favourite to be given the boot next in the Championship.

As a result, the Blues could be on the hunt for a new man in the dugout soon, and one manager who has been linked to St Andrew’s is Lee Carsley, who Jude Bellingham has previously praised.

Jude Bellingham: Lee Carsley helped me smile again when playing for England

Former Birmingham star Carsley has had a bright career as a coach to date.

Currently the England Under 21 manager, he has led the young Three Lions to two European Championship titles, with the latest coming in the summer.

In 2024, he also briefly held the position of England manager on an interim basis before Thomas Tuchel was appointed.

This saw Carsley praised by the likes of Jack Grealish for his time in the dugout.

Another star who was quick to express his appreciation was Bellingham.

He wrote on his Instagram story on 17 November 2024, he said: “Huge thanks to Lee and his staff for their work in these last few camps.

“Got my smile back in an England shirt, very grateful!!”

Lee Carlsey coaching career explained

Since retiring from his playing days, Carsley has held some brief positions at clubs before taking on an international role.

In both 2012 and 2013, the former Blues star was caretaker manager at Coventry and oversaw a combined four wins in his 11 games in charge in both spells.

In 2015, Carsley took charge of Brentford for a brief 10-game spell, overseeing five wins before Dean Smith was brought in to take charge permanently.

The last time Carsley was in the dugout for a club was actually at Birmingham, briefly overseeing three games as caretaker manager in 2017 after Harry Redknapp was sacked.

Here, he achieved one win, one draw and one defeat.
