Jude Bellingham sends ‘brilliant’ Liverpool message after development

Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham was unimpressed with his side’s performance in their 2-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool but hailed their “brilliant” opponents.

The 21-year-old could do nothing to stop Arne Slot’s side as goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo secured a memorable win for Liverpool at Anfield.

Bellingham and the current European champions are in real danger of falling at the first hurdle this year, sitting down in 25th, behind the likes of Celtic and Dinamo Zagreb, in the new Champions League group phase.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are running away with it as the only side with a 100 per cent record, sitting at the summit after five games.

Jude Bellingham devastated by Liverpool defeat

In a game riddled with sub-plots, Bellingham’s ongoing mission to convince England teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold to join Real Madrid may have taken a hit.

The central midfielder waited outside the Liverpool changing room to ask for Alexander-Arnold’s shirt, asking Ryan Gravenberch to fetch it for him.

After setting the world alight last season, scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions, Bellingham has struggled to get going this campaign.

With just two goals and two assists in 783 La Liga minutes, starting nine of Real Madrid’s 13 league games, Bellingham expressed his frustrations in a candid Instagram post.

Slot’s side have the opportunity to go 12 points clear in the race for the Premier League title as they face Man City at Anfield on Sunday (December 1).

With nine games throughout the festive period, Liverpool will need to be at their best as they aim to lift the trophy come the end of the season.
