Pundit suggests when Jude Bellingham transfer could be ‘done’ after Liverpool expert’s update

Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool must strengthen their midfield next summer if they choose not to do so in this window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the club must seek successors for the likes of James Milner, 36, Jordan Henderson, 32, and Thiago Alcantara, 31.

According to The Telegraph‘s Chris Bascombe (16 June), Liverpool’s final deal of the summer window would be that of Calvin Ramsay.

The FA Cup winners were keen on Aurelien Tchouameni but the France international chose Real Madrid over a move to Anfield.

Liverpool’s pursuit of a centre-midfielder is now widely expected to resume next year.

Robinson suggested Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham would be “a good fit” for the Reds.

“If Liverpool aren’t going to freshen up their midfield this summer they simply have to next year,” he told Football Insider.

“When you look at the ages of the players, the likes of Milner, Henderson and Thiago, they are the wrong side of 30. Yes, they are still top-class players but they cannot go on forever.

“It is an area that Liverpool need to address over the next 12 to 18 months.

“Bellingham would be a good fit. I think he’d suit the style of play and system that Jurgen Klopp plays.

“Could they get him out of Dortmund this year? It is very unlikely given that Erling Haaland has gone.

“I think it will be a transfer that is done next year.”
