Julen Lopetegui sack: New David Sullivan update from West Ham
Julen Lopetegui may have just two games to save his job as West Ham manager, it has been reported by talkSPORT.
The Spaniard only replaced David Moyes as Hammers manager in the summer, but has struggled to get going since taking charge at the London Stadium.
There have already been calls from supporters for Lopetegui to lose his job, that look as though they could be reignited after a 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool on Sunday (29 December).
It is already understood former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has held advanced talks about taking over as West Ham boss, and there may not be long until the club are making a change in the dugout.
According to this update, Hammers chairman David Sullivan is still reluctant to sack Lopetegui but the next two games are seen as vital to his future at the London Stadium.
Those two games see Lopetegui’s side travel to the Etihad to face Man City in the Premier League on Saturday (4 January) before visiting Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup the following week.

Football Insider Opinion
It is no surprise that Lopetegui may soon be approaching a decisive moment in his time as manager of the Hammers.
As things stand West Ham are currently 13th in the Premier League and look as though they should have enough to avoid being drawn into the bottom three.
They will though, seemingly not be going much further than that while the 58-year-old is in charge at the London Stadium.

Given this is a club with big ambitions who won a major European trophy less then two years ago it does not feel like that should be enough for them.
Lopetegui therefore surely has to prove that belief wrong quickly if he is to remain at West Ham, given he is yet to really show he can do that during his time in charge of the club so far.
If not, Sullivan will soon have to make a big decision, and while Man City and Aston Villa have not been at their best this season, they will still be tricky assignments for the Spaniard as he attempts to keep his job.
