Junior Firpo tells Joel Piroe ‘can’t be doing that’ as Bamford reacts to Leeds ace

Leeds defender Junior Firpo has sent a message to his teammate Joel Piroe on social media after a big win over Watford.

The Dutch striker played 81 minutes, and scored the match-winner against Watford in a 4-0 victory that extended the Lilywhite’s lead at the top of the Championship to five points.

Dan James opened the scoring in the 20th minute, before doubling his tally just eight minutes later, being assisted by Piroe following a swift counter-attack.

James’ performance wowed Leeds’ fans, as they took to social media to heap praise on the former Man United man.

Manor Solomon would put the game out of sight for the Hornets, scoring his seventh goal of the season in the league, thanks to an assist from Firpo.

Leeds fans wanted to see Piroe become the penalty-kick taker, after Pascal Struijk missed from 12 yards against Millwall, and the Dutch striker showed his clinical finishing by scoring the fourth of the night in the 62nd minute.

Ilan Meslier kept a clean sheet for Leeds, as the Frenchman looked to put recent mistakes behind him in Leed’s title-push.

Joel Piroe shows his composure for Leeds with goal against Watford

Piroe posted a photo of himself celebrating his goal against the Hornets on his Instagram, captioned with three emojis: a phone, a smiley winking face and a shrug.

The former Barcelona left-back, Firpo, responded by saying: “You can’t be doing that inside the box…”, Patrick Bamford then liked the post.

Piroe showed immense composure, having received the ball from Solomon, to take a touch past a sliding Watford defender, before slotting past Egil Selvik.

Leeds’ fans called for Daniel Farke to be sacked after losing to Millwall, but the German manager bounced back with a resounding victory over Watford.

Leeds heading back to the Premier League if they can keep scoring

Whilst Burnley have impressed as the Championship’s stingiest defence, conceding just nine goals in 31 matches, Leeds’ potent attack deserves credit.

Norwich are the second highest goal-scorers in the division, with an impressive tally of 50 goals this season, the Lilywhites have scored an astounding 66.

Man City hold the record goal-tally in a season, with 108, and whilst that record is unlikely to be broken any time soon, Leeds look a decent bet to finish near that total.
