Jurgen Klopp cited as savage Ange Postecoglou claim emerges after Tottenham appointment - 'it's abysmal'
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested new Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou will be held back by the club’s owners as they are “not bothered” about winning trophies.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed even Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Alex Ferguson would not bring success to Spurs – as the club’s mentality is “all wrong”.
Tottenham confirmed the appointment of Postecoglou on Tuesday (6 June) – with the Australian signing a four-year contract.
He comes to England for the first time after winning a domestic treble at Celtic in the 2022-23 campaign – and has also won league titles in Australia and Japan.
Tottenham last won a trophy in the 2007-08 season and will be without European football next term after finishing eighth in the Premier League.
When asked if Postecoglou could bring success back to Spurs, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he will give it a good go.

“But it’s going to be very difficult. It’s all well and good getting a manager in, but he’s got to be given the tools to do well.
“I look at Spurs and I don’t see them finishing in the top six.
“There’s too much competition and too many squads that are better than Spurs’.
“They need a lot of signings, a lot of maintenance. A new manager isn’t everything – and a lot has to change for Postecoglou to succeed.
“I think Klopp, Guardiola or Alex Ferguson could take over and they wouldn’t win a trophy.
“The mentality is abysmal at the club. The owners aren’t bothered about winning, they’re only bothered about the business.”
