Jurgen Klopp now huge favourite for manager’s job at crisis club – and it’s not Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp could be on the verge of making a comeback to management after he left Liverpool back in 2024.

The German has been linked with a whole host of clubs including his former side, especially with mounting pressure for Arne Slot to be sacked.

Amid Thomas Frank‘s struggles in north London, Klopp has also been one of the front-runners for the Tottenham job as he continues to be tipped with a potential return to the Premier League.

However, the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager could also be on his way to one of the biggest sides in Europe with tensions high in Spain’s capital.

Jurgen Klopp could snag sensational move to Real Madrid amid Xabi Alonso woes

Whilst Klopp continues his break from management, working as the Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, it is no surprise he is consistently linked with nearly all of the top managerial jobs in world football.

The latest development over his future has seen one major bookmaker put the German as the front-runner to become the new Real Madrid boss at 7/4.

Xabi Alonso has endured a difficult time since returning to the club he once played at with intense criticism coming from los Blancos’ 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo on 7 December.

Los Galacticos are still second in La Liga, but remain four points behind Barcelona in first place as questions have been raised of whether the Spaniard is the right man for the job.

Along with Klopp, Zinedine Zidane has also been touted as one of the favourites to return to the Santiago Bernabeu at 3/1.

The Frenchman is reportedly holding out for the France national team job after the 2026 World Cup when Didier Deschamps’ contract is set to expire, but could be tempted by taking over at Real Madrid once again.

Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola offer up intriguing managerial alternatives for Real Madrid

The bookmaker also have both Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola in the running to head to Madrid, both coming in at 12/1.

Whilst the pair perhaps don’t have the CV frequently required by los Blancos, both managers are currently set to leave their respective clubs at the end of the season.

Talks over new contracts remain slow and stagnant, potentially giving los Galacticos the chance to bring either of them to the club in what would be a riskier play, come the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Iraola, considering he is Spanish and has knowledge of La Liga from his time at Athletic Club, would be expected to adapt quickly to the Spanish top-flight.
