Jurgen Klopp to make sensational Liverpool return? ‘Dramatic’ verdict emerges

Arne Slot has enjoyed an extremely successful tenure as Liverpool manager since taking over from Jurgen Klopp at the start of the 2024-25 season.

Slot‘s side lifted the Premier League title last season, and enjoyed a strong start to this campaign before their recent dip in form which saw them lose four in a row.

Questions have been asked of Slot’s position at Liverpool as a result of those defeats, with the manager facing pressure for the first time at Anfield.

However, he is not believed to be under immediate pressure, with speculation about his job nothing more than frustrations boiling over at their poor form.

In the meantime, though, speculation has emerged linking Klopp with a sensational return to Anfield after he spoke publicly about his plans for the future.

Liverpool won’t rule out Jurgen Klopp return

Klopp recently appeared on the Diary of a CEO podcast, where he would not rule out a return to Anfield one day, although he clarified he loves his current role and does not miss coaching.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, all parties are leaving the door open to a potential return, although it is considered unlikely the boss will return to Anfield as the manager at any stage in the future.

The German boss will always be loved by those at Liverpool, but any suggestions he could take the reins again in the future are farfetched as things stand.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I’m sure neither party would rule anything out. Jürgen Klopp had a great time at Liverpool and he’s so well thought of.

“At the moment it’s highly unlikely that Klopp would make a return to Liverpool. There would have to be some dramatic circumstances for a return to Anfield for the German.

“It seems he’s quite happy in his role at the minute working for Red Bull and being out of coaching.

“Obviously both parties would never say never. And if opportunity came along, it’s probably something the club would find hard to turn down.

“But yeah, I don’t imagine him sort of rushing into anything. I think it’s unlikely that Klopp will return.

“But he has said in the past if he was to return to English football, there would only be one club he could go to and that would be Liverpool.”

Since his departure last year, the former boss has kept close tabs on Liverpool, as Klopp recently reached out to Florian Wirtz as a result of his poor start at Anfield.

Liverpool stars slammed after difficult run of form

Amid the pressure building on Slot’s position after recent results, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are concerned about some star players.

Last season’s success at Anfield saw the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold on top form, helping the Reds dominate their rivals.

However, both Van Dijk and Salah have seen major dips in form lately, while the likes of Alexander Isak and Milos Kerkez have struggled to adapt to the club.

Meanwhile, players including Isak and Florian Wirtz have come under fire for their displays, while Slot has been slammed for his decision-making.

Brown told Football Insider on 21 October that Isak and Wirtz are causing concerns for Liverpool after struggling to adjust to their moves.
