Justin Kluivert reacts to new Evanilson announcement at Bournemouth
Justin Kluivert has reacted to breaking news regarding his teammate Evanilson as Bournemouth prepare to face Arsenal.
Andoni Iraola‘s side will be keen to return to winning ways at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 3 May, having been held to a 1-1 draw against Man United last time out.
Antoine Semenyo handed Bournemouth a much-deserved lead at the Vitality Stadium, only for Rasmus Hojlund to score in the sixth minute of added time, likely because the Cherries were down to 10 men.
Following a VAR review, it has been suggested that Man United benefited from an “unbelievable” refereeing mistake as Evanilson was sent off after slipping into a challenge on Noussair Mazraoui.
The Brazilian striker, however, looks to have got the last laugh following the latest announcement.
Evanilson has Bournemouth suspension lifted before Arsenal
Taking to Instagram (30 April), the official Bournemouth account wrote: “We can confirm that Evanilson has had his red card from Sunday rescinded. He’s available to face Arsenal this weekend.”
As well as the Brazilian liking the post himself, Kluivert also celebrated the good news, with his attacking teammate back and ready to lead the line against the Gunners.
Andoni Iraola handed key boost for Premier League run-in
Football Insider verdict
The Cherries are still in with an outside chance of qualifying for European football this season, with the team currently sitting 10th in the Premier League table and 10 points off the Europa League spot.
While that might be a bit of a stretch, with the Europa Conference League a more likely target this term, three consecutive matches against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Man City stand in the way.
Premier League standings | Points |
6. Nottingham Forest | 60 |
7. Aston Villa | 57 |
8. Fulham | 51 |
9. Brighton | 51 |
10. Bournemouth | 50 |
Of course, Leicester City on the final day should be a guaranteed three points, but if the entire campaign comes down to the last day, absolutely anything can happen in the Premier League.
Iraola will be desperate to secure European football, though, given the number of his stars being linked with exits. Semenyo is one of the players tipped to leave Bournemouth, so too Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez.
The Cherries cannot afford to lose these stars during the summer transfer window, but without European football, it could be a tough summer ahead for those at the Vitality Stadium.
