Juventus make decision on re-selling Douglas Luiz to Aston Villa – sources

Juventus are not ready to make a knee-jerk decision on selling former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, sources have told Football Insider.

The Italian giants are keen to keep the 26-year-old in Turin as they push for a place in the Champions League knockout stages and the Serie A title.

Luiz himself is keen to stamp his authority at Juventus and force his way into Thiago Motta’s starting lineup.

That is despite recent reports from Italy suggesting the Brazil international is unhappy with the Bianconeri.

Aston Villa chief Monchi has also fanned the flames of speculation by revealing he “would always take Douglas back, from any club”.

But sources say Juventus won’t consider offers from Villa or any other European club in the new year.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (2 December) that Man City are also unlikely to make a deal for Luiz happen in January.

Luiz made 204 appearances during his five years at Villa Park, notching 22 goals and 24 assists.

The midfielder played a starring role last season as Unai Emery’s side finished fourth in the Premier League, but was sold so the club could comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
