Kai Havertz sends message to Arsenal fans after Bukayo Saka incident
Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is glad to see his side “Back to winning ways” after denying Bukayo Saka a first career hattrick in their 3-0 Champions League win over Monaco on Wednesday (December 11).
Saka, 23, had a hand in all three of Arsenal’s goals, scoring a brace and providing the assist for Havertz, 25, to round off the scoring.
The England international was in the right place at the right time to tap in Gabriel Jesus’ low cross just after the half-hour mark to open the scoring.
Saka then doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 78th minute after Havertz capitalised on a defensive mishap, laying it off for his teammate to easily slot home.
The winger thought he’d finally bagged his first career hattrick as the ball fell to him, but the German international was in the way, flicking it past the Monaco ‘keeper.
Speaking after the game, Saka blamed Havertz, saying: “He (Havertz) got in the way of it, but don’t worry, it’s [a hat trick] coming. It’s on the way.”
Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz leading from the front in Champions League mission
Saka has been in the form of his life so far this season, starting 20 of his 21 appearances across all competitions, scoring nine goals, and providing 12 assists in 1694 minutes of action.
Havertz has been fantastic, too, starting 19 of his 22 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals, and providing two assists in his 1794 minutes on the pitch.
Arsenal’s win takes them up to third in the new Champions League league phase with 13 points from their six games and two remaining.
Havertz took to Instagram to celebrate their win after the game, proud that his side have seemingly put their frustrating 1-1 draw with Fulham in their previous game behind them.

Arteta’s side have now won four of their last five games across all competitions, having previously gone on a three-game winless streak.
Attention will return to the Premier League on Saturday (December 14) as they prepare to host Sean Dyche’s struggling Everton side.
