Kai Havertz sends message to Arsenal fans after ‘massive’ development

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz took to social media to send a message to the fans after their comprehensive 5-1 Premier League win over Man City on Sunday (February 2).

The 25-year-old scored Arsenal’s fourth as Mikel Arteta’s side got one over the current Premier League champions having come off second best in their last two title fights.

Captain Martin Odegaard opened the scoring for the home side after just two minutes before fellow Norway international Erling Haaland scored the equaliser just after half-time.

Thomas Partey restored their lead in the 56th minute, just a minute after Haaland’s equaliser, before Myles Lewis-Skelly netted his first senior goal to make it 3-1.

Lewis-Skelly mimicked Haaland’s famous meditation celebration after his goal, and took to social media to aim another dig at the Man City striker after the win.

Arsenal fans loved what they saw from their most recent Hale End academy product, taking to social media to laud the youngster.

Havertz scored in the 76th minute, a goal which was later followed by an added-time finish from wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri.

The German forward has been a key player for Arsenal so far this season, starting 29 of his 33 games across all competitions, scoring 15 goals, and providing five assists in his 2686 minutes of action.

Despite his impressive form, the forward has faced abuse from some Arsenal fans. Following their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United, a teenager was arrested for sending threats to his pregnant wife.

Havertz took to Instagram after their 5-1 demolition of Man City to celebrate, saying: “Massive win in the bag. Onto another important game on Wednesday!”

Arteta’s side will travel north to Newcastle for their League Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday (February 5), hoping to overturn a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture.

Arsenal’s attention will then return to the Premier League will a home game against Leicester as they seek to close the six-point gap on league leaders Liverpool.
