Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper react to Dan James announcement at Leeds United

Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper have both responded following a new official announcement concerning Leeds United winger Dan James.

The Welshman has discovered a new side to himself over the last two seasons at Elland Road, having notched 23 goals and 17 assists in 76 appearances since returning from his loan at Fulham.

James had struggled to settle in at Man United, moving across to Leeds in August 2021, but he was a shadow of the player he is now as Daniel Farke looks to take the team back to the Premier League.

Only Joel Piroe has more Championship goal contributions for Leeds this season, with the team currently topping the league table with 11 games of the campaign remaining.

Dan James wins award for incredible Leeds United performances

Even with Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter combining for 49 goal contributions last season, James was an integral part of the starting XI and has continued that form into this term.

With three goals and four assists to his name during the month of February, the 27-year-old has been awarded Championship Player of the Month, and rightly so.

Responding to the news coming from Elland Road, Man City’s Kalvin Phillips, currently on loan at Ipswich Town liked the official post while former defender Cooper wrote: “Love to see it, DEEJ”.

Daniel Farke to take Leeds United back to the Premier League

Football Insider verdict

The Whites will already be planning for promotion back to the Premier League, or at least it seems like it as links to striker Tammy Abraham emerge at Leeds.

Manor Solomon’s future at Leeds will also be a top priority, having already notched seven goals and seven assists in the league this season, contributing to a sensation campaign.

Leeds United are leading the chase for the Championship title.

Sheffield United and Burnley will certainly have something to say, right up until the end of the season, and the top three sides are only separated by five points.

However, with Leeds cruelly missing out on promotion back to the top tier of English football last term, Farke will be keen to avoid a similar situation arising this season.
