Kalvin Phillips reacts to message from Patrick Bamford after ‘Leeds decision made’

Kalvin Phillips reacted to a message from Leeds striker Patrick Bamford amid uncertainty surrounding the pair’s respective futures.

The former Chelsea striker appeared 17 times in the Championship for the Whites last season without starting a single game.

Joel Piroe was Leeds’ first-choice number nine as Daniel Farke’s side claimed 100 points, securing the Championship title on the final day of the season with a 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle.

Despite Bamford’s pedigree, the England international has endured several frustrating years due to injuries and poor form.

Unable to consistently rely on the striker, the Yorkshire side have targeted a new number nine in the transfer window.

An offer was made by Leeds for Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, but that bid was rejected by the West London side, and it is unclear whether Farke’s team will return for the Brazilian later in the window.

Patrick Bamford all smiles as Leeds prepare for Premier League

Ahead of Leeds’ return to the Premier League, Bamford shared a couple of images of himself in training, captioned with three grinning emojis.

The post was liked by his former teammate Philips, showing support for the seemingly exit-bound striker.

Bamford expected to leave as Phillips’ future up in the air

Football Insider Verdict

Former Whites star Paul Robinson told Football Insider at the end of the season that Bamford would be leaving Leeds.

With just a year on his contract remaining and a rough recent injury record, the club would be keen to move on from the forward.

As for Bamford‘s former teammate, Pete O’Rourke exclusively told Football Insider that Phillips would not be leaving Man City until he had recovered from Achilles surgery.

The England international has endured a miserable time since making the move to Manchester and was on loan at Ipswich last term.

Phillips continues to be linked with a return to Leeds, but with a terrible injury record of his own, it would be a surprise to see the 29-year-old re-join his old side this summer.
