Kalvin Phillips: Two Leeds stars predicted to ‘push through a move’ this summer – pundit

Kevin Phillips has tipped Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to “push” for a move out of Leeds United this summer.

The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the pair would be “frustrated” by the lack of January transfer business.

A Leeds source told Football Insider on Saturday (5 February) that the Whites are expecting major offers for Phillips this summer that will exceed the reported £50million bid tabled by West Ham last month.

As detailed by this site last month (29 January), West Ham also enquired about Raphinha but were knocked back.

Football Insider has since revealed the Brazilian is close to signing a new contract at Elland Road.

A new deal could see his value skyrocket to around the £60million mark.

However, Kevin Phillips suggested the duo may look for a move after a quiet January in terms of incomings.

He told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs: “I personally think those two individuals, come the summer, will probably look to push a move through to go.

“They are being linked with top, top clubs and they could both play in the top teams in the Premier League.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if they moved on in the summer.

“It’s a big job for Leeds. They’ve done well to keep them in the January window. To try and hold onto them in the summer will be a big window for them.

“If they could do that, then they’ll show that ambition. That they want to keep their players there and add to the squad.

“From those players’ point of view, Leeds not adding anyone in January, they might be a little bit frustrated.

“A big summer coming up for Leeds in terms of keeping players and adding to the squad.”

Both Raphinha and Phillips are contracted to Leeds until 2024.
