Rangers have suffered a transfer blow after their move to sign rising star Herbie Kane from Liverpool failed, Football Insider understands.
Football Insider revealed last month that the Glasgow giants have made an approach to take the 20-year-old on loan this season.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that Kane will be staying at the club and won’t be going out on loan before the transfer deadline next week.
The Merseysiders’ final answer on the goalscoring midfielder is a blow to Rangers, who had hoped to make him their fourth loan signing from Liverpool during Steven Gerrard’s reign.
The Anfield icon has previously snapped up Ryan Kent, Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo on temporary deals and is still pursuing a loan-to-buy deal for Kent.
The midfielder is in demand after a very successful spell at Doncaster Rovers last season, where he started 39 league matches among 49 appearances in all competitions.
Kane caught the eye by directly contributing to 17 goals from midfield, made up of seven goals and 10 assists.
He was not selected for Liverpool’s pre-season tour of America and attracted interest from English Championship clubs including Swansea City and Hull City, as well as Rangers.
But the former Bristol City youngster is now set to remain with his parent club beyond the closure of the English lower league and Scottish windows next Monday.
In other Liverpool news, it can be REVEALED that Klopp has made a move to keep vital Anfield first teamer in danger of leaving.
