Karius fires back at comments made by Gary Neville following Liverpool v Bournemouth

By Harvey Byrne

Loris Karius has fired back at Gary Neville after comments made by the Sky Spots pundit following Liverpool’s defeat against Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Reds fell to a humiliating 4-3 defeat at the Vitality Stadium with the Merseysiders 3-1 up with 20 minutes to go.

The 23-year-old shot stopper’s display received a lot of criticism and he has so far failed to convince after signing from Mainz in the summer.

However, he hit back at his critics and Neville in particular, stating that “he doesn’t care” what the former Manchester United full-back has to say.

“What critics say right after the game, I don’t know what I think,” told Karius to the Daily Mail. “If you asked them again would they say it now?

“And I don’t care what Gary Neville said. He was a manager for a short bit and now he is back to being an expert again.

“But he is always very critical. I think he does it to everyone. I just hope that when I do well he will comment on that. We will see in the future.”

Karius has played 10 times for Liverpool this season, keeping four clean sheets with 10 goals conceded in his opening fixtures.

The frailties at the back have not had too much of an impact on the Reds as they sit in third place in the league table.

They are four points behind league leaders Chelsea with a match against West Ham at Anfield coming up next.

They will be looking to earn a victory over the Hammers, who are currently in 17th and one point above the drop zone.

The two teams last met in the FA Cup in February, which brought a 2-1 victory for West Ham at Upton Park.
