‘Karren Brady ally who worked for me at Aston Villa quits West Ham – this could be why’
West Ham fan protests have contributed to the resignation of a senior figure on the club’s board.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after West Ham’s executive director Tara Warren stepped down from her role at the club.
West Ham fans have protested against the board at matches this season, with supporters wanting David Sullivan and Karren Brady to resign.
The Hammers are in the Premier League relegation zone, with the possibility that the club will play in the Championship next season.
Karren Brady loses ally at West Ham
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the West Ham board is “not a comfortable place to be” right now.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness understands why Warren left he role at the club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It is definitely one of Karren Brady’s right-hand people, so to speak, on the board. And I know there are a couple of female employees that are very much with Karren Brady’s power group that follow her.
“I had one that works for me at Villa as well that’s down there now and has been down there for a long time. And I don’t know whether this is what this really signals. I’ve been trying to work this one out as to what this would mean, but I think that it could just be as simple as the pressure of being on the board and the fan unrest and potentially the threats that they’ve been receiving could have been enough to make her think about resigning.
“I don’t know that for a fact, but that’s the one thing that would seem to me that if you’re on the board at West Ham right now, it’s not a comfortable place to be. And regardless of who you are, we know that the big anger is at Sullivan and Brady, but nevertheless, if she’s seen as being one of Brady’s people, then I think there may have been a lot of comments and anger against her. And so she may have just had enough. And I understand if that was the case.”

West Ham set for PSR boost
West Ham are set to sell their women’s team, in order to improve their position with Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The London club will follow the likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Everton, who have all made similar moves.
The deal is set to be completed soon before new Premier League rules come into force, which will stop clubs selling assets like their women’s team.
