Marvin Compper raves about Celtic senior man, highlight biggest strength

New Celtic centre-back Marvin Compper has raved about manager Brendan Rodgers after signing for the Hoops this month, highlight the clubs’ biggest strength as being their ability to improve.
The 32-year-old, who was signed from Leipzig, has been impressed with the qualities that senior man Rodgers has installed in his squad, that you need to keeping on going as hard as you can every week, which he has noticed during his time training in Dubai with his new team-mates.
“The manager has been here for one and a half years and he has done fantastic pushing the team all of the time” Compper said, as quoted by the Evening Times.
“We have to keep on pushing and that is the biggest strength of the big teams, to do it every week. That is the task and what you have to do as a big team.
“I’m only one guy and part of a team always. You do your best and try to grow, but it has to be a team effort at the end of the day.”
The new arrival will provide competition to the now established centre-back pairing of Kristoffer Ajer and Dedryck Boyata, who have helped the Bhoys keep five clean sheets in a row following the 4-0 defeat to Hearts which ended the Hoops’ 69-match unbeaten domestic run.
With Jozo Simunovic out-of-favour with Brendan Rodgers and Erik Sviatchenko having returned to Denmark, it looks like the battle to be the starting centre-back pairing for the Hoops will come down to two from Compper, Ajer and Boyata.
Compper could be set to make his first-team debut on Saturday, as the Bhoys return from Dubai to begin the second-half of the season with a Scottish Cup tie against Brechin, as Celtic aim to complete the unprecedented feat of winning back-to-back domestic trebles.
