'Keeps things simple' - Sutton delivers verdict on 27-year-old Celtic man, starring in WC
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has claimed that he is a fan of Hoops defender Dedryck Boyata as long as he doesn’t make the mistakes which often creep into his game.
The 27-year-old Belgian has the propensity of making silly errors which often cost the team goals, but despite this Sutton thinks that the former Manchester City man is good enough for the Bhoys as long as he keeps things simple in defence.
“I fancy Boyata if he keeps things simple over the other centre backs. Or Celtic need to bring another in…” Sutton said on his personal Twitter account, in response to a question about how highly he rated the centre-back.

Boyata’s future with the Hoops is currently uncertain, as he has a year to go on his current contract but any talks about his future have been deferred until he returns from the World Cup with Belgium.
Football Insider verdict
Chris Sutton might be a fan of Dedryck Boyata at times, but that doesn’t mean that Boyata is the best centre-back at the club. Kristoffer Ajer probably takes that honour, which says a lot for the Hoops defence that a player less than a year into his Hoops career is the best centre-back. As for Boyata, his performances at the World Cup for Belgium have been decent, and could well attract some interested parties. Brendan Rodgers will want the 27-year-old’s future decided as soon as possible, which isn’t ideal whilst he is at the World Cup for at least another few week, and by the time he returns to the club the Bhoys will be in full Champions League qualification mode. Boyaya’s future with the Hoops is certainly something worth looking out for in the next few weeks, it is highly unlikely he will be allowed to run his contract down so something needs to be decided one way or another.
