Keith Wyness ‘99% sure’ about Everton takeover collapse
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed he is “99% sure” the Leadenhall legal battle will not scupper The Friedkin Group’s takeover.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted “all the noise” indicates the matter can be put to bed in due course.
A-Cap have assumed 777 Partners’ share in Everton but have been prevented from selling it by a court case brought by Leadenhall in New York – with court approval needed before a deal is done.
Friedkin agreed a deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in the club last month and is now undergoing the regulatory processes before he can take control.
He returned to agree the takeover after pulling out of a deal in July over headaches about the mess left by 777.
Leadenhall case is ‘not a concern’ for Everton, says Wyness
Wyness claimed the Leadenhall case remains “very much a formality” in the process and is not cause for concern.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’ve got no concerns.
“I think this Leadenhall case is still very much a formality.
“All the noise coming out from every side is that this is something where an agreement can be reached in due course.
“I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker.

“But as I’ve said before, you’re 99% sure – but there’s that 1% you always worry about in the legal world.
“I’m not unduly concerned at the moment.”
