Keith Wyness digs at Liverpool fans after Alexander-Arnold latest – ‘this is very poor’
Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to leave his boyhood club for Real Madrid when his contract expires in June.
The 26-year-old is widely reported to have agreed personal terms with Los Blancos ahead of a free transfer move in the off-season.
Alexander-Arnold’s imminent exit has been met with frustration from some Liverpool fans, with some hitting out at his perceived lack of loyalty as the club are set to miss out on a transfer fee for the right-back.
The England international is currently sidelined through injury after limping off in the Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has taken aim at some Liverpool fans over their reaction to the latest developments in the saga.
Liverpool fans told to ‘suck it up’ over Trent exit
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has claimed the “anti-Trent sentiment is very poor form” and urged fans to be “magnanimous” when the defender departs.
Alexander-Arnold has made 349 appearances since graduating from the Liverpool academy and has won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup with the club.

Wyness insisted Reds fans should “suck it up” rather than kick up a fuss as the 26-year-old plays his last games for the club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Trent has been a very good servant for Liverpool.
“He’s come through the academy as a local boy, he cost them nothing and he’ll go for nothing.
“He’s given them a lot. The fans have loved him, he’s given some great performances.
“The criticism has always been that he’s superb going forward, but not the best at defending.
“Nevertheless, he’s won a lot of silverware. I think the Liverpool fans should be happy.
“There’s been a lot of anti-Trent sentiment from the Liverpool fans, which I think is very poor form.
“I think they should be celebrating his contribution. It’s very fair that he’s going to Real Madrid and not another competitor in the Premier League.
“He’s got his mate Jude Bellingham down there, and I think he’s made the right move.
“Liverpool fans have got to suck it up and be a bit more magnanimous.”

Liverpool weigh up Cunha swoop
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (31 March) that Liverpool are watching Wolves star Matheus Cunha ahead of a potential summer swoop.
Cunha is being lined up as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez after his good form with Wolves so far this season.
Football Insider revealed last week (23 March) that Nunez is the first player in line to leave Anfield at the end of the season and could push immediately for an exit.
