Keith Wyness drops verdict on Callum Wilson agreeing late move after termination talks
West Ham should not sanction the sale of Callum Wilson to Saudi Arabia late in the January transfer window.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who thinks Wilson is what West Ham need to survive in the Premier League.
Wilson has been linked with a move to Saudi, after talks emerged over West Ham terminating the striker’s contract at the beginning of the January window.
The 33-year-old has remained at the London Stadium and scored the winner for West Ham in a 2-1 win at Tottenham, and he could now stay at the club until the end of the season.
Callum Wilson could ‘end up staying at West Ham’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks Wilson will move to Saudi “at some stage.“
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness though is urging West Ham to keep the striker until the end of the season.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “They’ve got these two new strikers that we discussed were not really quality.
“One of them scored, so they have got something up front, but I think they should be sticking with Wilson. I think if you’re going to have any chance of fighting at all, you’ve to score goals and that’s what they need, and he’s proven he can do it.
“Callum has done it in the Premier League. He understands it. So I think he will end up staying at West Ham on this pay-per-play sort of deal that we believe is there. And I think he will go to Saudi at some stage. Now, whether it’s during this season or not will depend on the timing of the windows.”

West Ham star set for departure
West Ham are likely to lose midfielder Lucas Paqueta before the end of the January window, with the Brazilian now pushing to leave the London club.
Paqueta could leave West Ham for £40million, with Flamengo said to be closing in on a deal to re-sign the 28-year-old.
After joining the club in 2022 from Lyon, Paqueta has made over 130 appearances for the Hammers, scoring 23 goals.
