Keith Wyness drops verdict on Rangers agreeing permanent Mikey Moore deal – ‘huge’

Rangers have “no chance” of agreeing a permanent deal to sign Mikey Moore from Tottenham.

That is according to former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, who exclusively told Football Insider it would be a “huge result” if Rangers could sign Moore on loan again next season.

The 18-year-old joined the Scottish giants on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham last summer.

While he had a slow start to life at Ibrox, Moore has impressed since Danny Rohl replaced Russell Martin as manager in October.

The England Under-19 international, who can play in various attacking positions, has registered four goals and three assists in 34 appearances this season.

How Rangers could agree new Mikey Moore deal

Moore is highly regarded at Tottenham, having already made 21 first-team appearances for the Premier League club.

However, Rangers will be hoping to keep him at Ibrox beyond this season following his impressive recent form.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness discussed the chances of Rohl’s side extending Moore’s stay in Glasgow.

“Look, he’s a talent, there’s no doubt,” said Wyness.

“Danny Rohl has obviously put his arm around him and he’s got him firing, no doubt about it.

“The best I think Rangers could hope for is another season’s loan. There’s no chance they’ll get him permanently. I think that would be good for all parties concerned.”

Why Danny Rohl is key to Rangers extending Moore’s deal

Wyness revealed Rangers could look to agree a deal with Tottenham now for Moore to remain with them next season.

“It seems Moore is quite settled and enjoying Rangers now,” said Wyness.

“I think he’s enjoying Danny Rohl. I think if they were to get him for another season on loan, that would be a huge result for Rangers, or at least half a season promised right now is what they would hope for.

“I think it would do him good to get that experience, so that’s what I think is best. But there’s no chance of him joining Rangers permanently.”

Moore will be hoping to make an impact when Rangers take on Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts on Sunday (15 February).
