Keith Wyness: Everton to agree deals as ‘record-breaking’ January window on the cards
Everton owner Dan Friedkin has been backed to support David Moyes in the January transfer window.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes the January transfer window could be “record-breaking” for the Premier League.
Everton could prioritise a full-back and a forward in January, as David Moyes looks to lead the Toffees to a top-half finish.
Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Everton highlighted the gap that Moyes’ side still have to bridge if they are to become European contenders.
Everton won’t ‘be going mad’ with January spending
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the ownership are currently in a “comfortable financial position.“
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness is confident Moyes will continue to be backed financially.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The thing is they’ll be backing him, but they’re not going to be going mad. We all know valuations can be bad in January.
“But as I’ve said before, I do believe this January will be another record-breaking January for the Premier League. And so I think they will, and they’ll go forward.
“I think the Friedkins have got themselves in a comfortable financial position now. And yes, they will carry on supporting. I mean, they’re doing well with Roma in Serie A. So for them, they’re making themselves look like good owners at present.”

Everton defender could leave in January
Everton could lose defender Reece Welch in January, after Championship side Sheffield Wednesday submitted their interest.
The 22-year-old is in the final year of his Everton contract, and could head out on another loan to continue his development.
Welch has come through the club’s academy, but the defender has made just two senior appearances for the Toffees.
