Keith Wyness: I would’ve rebelled against Everton’s new behind‑the‑scenes role
Everton may not have needed to have appointed Chris Chiang as their new Head of Football Planning.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who states that he may have “rebelled” against the hire.
Chiang has spent the last eight years at Manchester United and will join Everton as they continue to drive their vision to climb the Premier League table since their move to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton want to increase revenue at Hill Dickinson Stadium and bolster their squad in the summer to push for European football next season.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the club want to improve their valuation in the long term.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Chiang’s appointment could “complicate” things at the club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “There’s obviously, you know, the Friedkins obviously believe there’s a need for that.
“And if it’s about improving the valuation of the club longer term, then I hope that’s the case. But you’d think that with the experience there of Moyes and the groups just now in terms of the head to the academy and scouting, etc., that there’d be enough people there to be able to handle this sort of situation.
“But it’s part of the modern game, and it’s one that maybe I would have rebelled against a little bit. But as I say, we’ll see where it goes. Another voice certainly and that could often complicate things.”

Everton to reignite Ben White pursuit
Sources have told Football Insider that Everton remain keen on signing Ben White in the summer after being interested in the right-back in the January window.
Right-back is a priority position for David Moyes this summer, with White among a number of targets the Toffees could pursue.
The 28-year-old has appeared just seven times in the Premier League for Arsenal this season, and could be free to leave the club in the summer.
