Keith Wyness: Leeds United could sign two Rangers stars this summer

Rangers and Leeds could once again link up in the transfer window amid speculation about Mikey Moore’s and Nicolas Raskin’s future at Ibrox.

According to former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, he exclusively told Football Insider that the West Yorkshire side may look to acquire the duo in the summer.

Raskin’s future at the Old Firm side is under serious doubt, with his contract set to expire next year.

On top of this, Moore is set to return to Tottenham at the end of the campaign once his loan deal expires.

As a result, the 49ers may be prepared to use their Leeds links to ensure that they are present at Ibrox next campaign.

Keith Wyness: Leeds could sign Mikey Moore and Nicolas Raskin in the summer

Leeds’ links with Rangers have been well-documented.

The 49ers, who own the Peacocks, also have a majority stake at Ibrox as part of the consortium led by businessman Andrew Cavenagh.

In the winter, Leeds striker Joel Piroe was linked with a Rangers switch to boost their title hopes, but a move never materialised.

However, they could help the Gers keep hold of their best stars short-term, according to Wyness, who told the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that Leeds may buy Raskin and Moore and then loan them back to Ibrox.

He said: “One other thing we’ve got to think about, talking about Mikey Moore and Raskin, could there be something with Leeds coming into play here, whereby Leeds perhaps buys the player or moves the player and somehow does a half-season loan with Rangers?

“This is where we’ve got to see how these sorts of things can work out and if there is a way to try and do that.

“It could complicate the issue, but still if there are quality players you want
to keep them within your group, and that’s just one thought.

“Although nothing I’ve heard is going that way, it’s something I think that could be in people’s thoughts as we’re looking towards the summer.”

Champions League football could be the difference-maker for Rangers

Whether Leeds look to buy the duo or not, the key factor could be if the Gers reach the Champions League’s league phase.

This achievement would attract many top players and could convince Raskin and Moore to stay at Ibrox for the 2025-26 campaign.

However, if they are sent down to the Europa League, or worse, the Europa Conference League, it may be hard for Leeds to convince them to go back to Rangers if they do sign them.

Therefore, the title race not only holds potential glory for Danny Rohl but may also decide the future of many players at the Old Firm club.
