Keith Wyness: Real Madrid ‘have made contact’ over sensational Erling Haaland deal
Erling Haaland is in incredible form for Manchester City but he could be set for a shock departure from the club at some point in the future.
Haaland has already scored 14 Premier League goals this season, somehow reaching another level compared to previous campaigns.
The former Borussia Dortmund man missed a penalty, but still managed to find the back of the net as Man City beat Liverpool 3-0 on Sunday (9 November).
Pep Guardiola’s side are now just four points adrift of table toppers Arsenal, and will look to continue putting the pressure on after the international break.

Erling Haaland has hidden release clause
Haaland signed a monster nine and a half year contract at Man City back in January, that runs until the summer of 2034.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Norweigan striker could leave the club well before his deal expires.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that, according to his sources, Haaland’s contract includes a release clause.
However, Wyness added that it cannot be triggered immediately, and it may be three years before it kicks in.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, there’s been mixed reports, should we say, on that situation.
“I’ve been doing some calling around. The people I trust tend to believe there are still release clauses in his contract, but they’re not immediate.
“So although he signed that long-term contract, there may be three years before those release clauses kick in. Now that would make sense that they would have put that into the contract, so that there was a release clause, but it is not one that could be triggered immediately.
“So it could be in two or three seasons. That’s basically making that long-term contract a short-term contract because there’s a release clause. So if you sign a nine-year deal and there’s a release clause after three, effectively, you’re saying that you expect that player to possibly move after year three.”
Erling Haaland could move to Real Madrid
Haaland has been linked with Real Madrid in recent times, and there is a feeling that the 25-year-old will eventually make the switch to the Spanish giants.

Wyness revealed that there has already been contact between the striker’s representatives and Los Blancos.
He said: “There’s no doubt there’ll be talk. I believe that Real Madrid have made contact with his agent, I’m sure they’ll be assessing the situation, and we’ll see where that goes.
“I think he would probably at some stage consider moving on to try and play with the Real Madrid team. That’s the one club that he might consider moving for.
“But he certainly has proven to be consistent. He doesn’t stop scoring. You’ve got to say he’s a machine. So, you know, he’s the full deal.”
