Keith Wyness shares huge Everton news today after what he’s ‘heard’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed he is “hearing” an announcement on The Friedkin Group’s takeover will come on Wednesday (18 December).
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted there has already been a lot of thought about the “football and commercial side” from the US group.
Sky Sports reported last week (13 December) that The Friedkin Group (TFG) have secured approval from the Premier League to become the new owners of Everton.
They had originally agreed to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake at the Merseyside club in September.
Everton, who sit 16th in the Premier League table under Sean Dyche, will move into their new 52,888-seat stadium next season.
Everton takeover set to be announced on Wednesday, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’m hearing very strongly that Wednesday is the day we’re going to see the official announcement.
“There was a bit of a stampede last Friday about an announcement, a lot of outlets said it had been approved.
“Very good media sources are telling me that it should be Wednesday, but these things can always drop a day or two.
“I know The Friedkin Group are doing everything to get it done, because we’re aware of January.

“But there will be a lot of work being done on how they’re going to start at the club after they get the official okay.
“I’m sure there has already been a lot of thought about the football and commercial side – I’m pretty sure they’ll hit the ground running.”
