Keith Wyness taken aback by ‘incredible’ Raheem Sterling news
Raheem Sterling’s agent has been working hard to ensure the forward leaves Chelsea in the January transfer window.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid Sterling’s current predicament at Chelsea.
Sterling has been frozen out at Chelsea under former manager Enzo Maresca, and spent last season on loan at Arsenal.
Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, are interested in signing Sterling, in what could be either a permanent or loan deal in January.
Raheem Sterling ‘ready’ for January move
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has seen “a lot of signs” that Sterling wants to start playing again.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness though does not believe everything in the media is true.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, we talked about 80 % of the stuff in the media not necessarily being correct.
“And I’ve got a feeling that Raheem’s agents have been working overdrive recently, because all I’ve seen is articles about Raheem, about how he’s working so hard in training. He’s working like a man possessed. He’s incredible. He’s ready to go.
“And I’m sure that we can find a way around his wages and all those sorts of things. So I’m seeing a lot of signs that Raheem wants to get back in the game. He’s still only 31, which is hard to believe, but he is only 31. He seems like he’s been around forever because he started so young at Liverpool.”

Chelsea confirm new managerial appointment
Chelsea confirmed that Maresca left the club on New Year’s Day, and the Blues have acted quickly to appoint Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior as their new boss.
Rosenior may not get the funds to sign players at Chelsea in the January window, with the club believing they already have enough quality in their squad.
Chelsea are still competing for a top four Premier League finish, and they are in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, where they will face Arsenal.
