Keith Wyness thrilled by ‘great news’ from Everton

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Dan Friedkin’s hands-on approach is “very positive news” for the club.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the plans recently reported in the media show the US billionaire is a “concerned” owner after the disappointing recent reign of Farhad Moshiri.

According to journalist Alan Nixon (27 October), Friedkin is looking to incorporate local businessman Andy Bell and George Downing onto the Everton board despite their failed takeover attempt.

The American is keen to install some local knowledge to the board when he is officially handed the reins from Farhad Moshiri.

Reports have also claimed that Friedkin is also exploring maximising the club’s footprint around the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium – which will open in 2025.

The billionaire also owns Roma and has taken a hands-on approach alongside his son Ryan since taking over in the Italian capital.

Friedkin’s hands-on approach is ‘absolutely right’ for Everton, says Wyness

Wyness insisted it is “absolutely right” for Friedkin to take steps to understand the club in greater detail.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s great news.

“It’s absolutely right for him to check under the bonnet and understand every single detail about the club.
