Keith Wyness urges West Ham’s owners to accept takeover offer – ‘It’s got to be looked at’

West Ham’s owners must be thinking about selling the club with relegation to the Championship a possibility.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who is still not backing West Ham to stay in the Premier League.

West Ham beat Sunderland 3-1 to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but they remain five points from safety.

Relegation to the Championship would hit West Ham financially, and there have been calls from supporters for the owners to sell the club.

West Ham owners ‘have got to look at divestment’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks West Ham‘s owners have to look at a sale.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the fans will continue to put pressure on the board to sell the club.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “There’s still not a lot in it really. I mean five points, that can be shifted, but I think Forest have got enough, and I think Leeds have got enough to stay up.

Although West Ham and Leeds, I believe, play each other on the last day. If it did come down to that one that would be a tasty little fixture to look at, but I don’t think it’s going to come down to that.

“So I think West Ham now there’s some big thinking that has to go on in the boardroom at West Ham as to what really is the way forward, and I do think some sort of divestment has got to be looked at and viewed at because the fans won’t accept much else, I don’t think.”

Lucas Paqueta future unresolved

The future of Lucas Paqueta at the London Stadium remains uncertain heading into the final week of the January transfer window.

West Ham have been told to accept a £30million bid for Paqueta, with Brazilian club Flamengo interested in the midfielder.

The 28-year-old has missed four of the Hammers’ last five matches, and has only registered six goal contributions this season.
