Kemar Roofe is ‘knocking on Beale’s door’ after Rangers game-changer – Hutton

Kemar Roofe could make a permanent return to the Rangers starting XI.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said Roofe is “knocking on the door” to be part of the regular lineup for Michael Beale.

The 30-year-old has started two games for the Light Blues so far this season after returning from a injury that kept him sidelined for almost a year.

The striker returned to the starting lineup for the 2-0 win over Ross County on 26 August and was included once again for the 1-0 defeat to Celtic.

Beale added a number of new forward signings this summer including Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Danilo.

When asked if Roofe’s recent return to the starting lineup could become a regular occurrence, Hutton told Football Insider:I think he has worked extremely hard to get back fit.

It has been a difficult period of time for him with injuries so he has come through the back end of that, he has clearly had a good pre-season and the manager obviously trusts him otherwise he would not be starting him.

I think, on his day, he is knocking on the door to be in the starting XI. He links up very well and the manager is obviously looking for those relationships with players and Roofe gives you that.

“I think if he can keep his fitness up there will be an opportunity for him in the starting lineup.
