Kenny Dalglish believes Jason Cummings, Jamie Murphy and Russell Martin will all prove to be shrewd signings by Rangers after joining the Ibrox giants in the January transfer window.
The Gers have made four signings this month so far with Sean Goss also signing from QPR on loan and Dalglish is confident the trio will “do well” at Ibrox.
Gers boss Graeme Murty has overhauled his squad this month after taking the reins from Pedro Caixinha in October on a short-term basis.
Dalglish also thinks Cummings’ tie at Nottingham Forest will serve as motivation for the striker to prove he is up to the task at Ibrox.
“It’s never easy to predict how any new player will settle at a club or how successful he will be, particularly when it is a loan signing for five months,” Dalglish said, as quoted by the Sunday Post.
“But I’m of the opinion that Jason Cummings, Russell Martin and Jamie Murphy will do well.
“Cummings performed well for Hibernian for two years and showed his ability over a period of time.
“It’s not quite gone to plan for him at Nottingham Forest, and that’s why he has decided to come back up to Scotland.
“He needs to show the people at Rangers and, indeed, their supporters that he is able and committed to the challenge.”
Despite becoming an icon at Celtic, Dalglish grew up a boyhood Rangers fans and had a short stint as a scout with the club.
The Ibrox giants return to domestic action after the winter break on Wednesday night when they welcome Aberdeen to Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
Graeme Murty’s side know a win over the Dons will see them leapfrog Aberdeen in second-place in the table on goal difference.
The Light Blues were scheduled to face Fraserburgh on Sunday in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup before the game fell victim to the weather and was re-arranged for January 31st.
