Kenny issues ‘huge’ Rangers claim – ‘it could happen’ – after key development

Paddy Kenny is worried for Rangers after they drew Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, fears the Gers could be heavily beaten in both legs.

On Monday (13 December) Rangers drew Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League play-off round.

The winner of the tie will seal their place in the Europa League knockout rounds.

Kenny claims the draw is “a bit of blow” as he expects the Gers to lose across both legs against the German giants.

“It’s just one of them, from one point of view it’s a big blow,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Rangers will go there and give their best account but it’s hard to see them getting anything.

“That’s a huge shame for them because it would be great to see them do well in Europe again.

“You never know what might happen, even a draw would be massive.

“Say they don’t go through but maybe get a positive result in one of the games, that will work wonders for confidence.

“I think in these situations you have to look for any positives you can.

“You just don’t want Rangers to get battered across both legs, that helps no one and it could happen.

“You do worry for them when you look at that Dortmund team.”

Rangers reached the round of 16 during an impressive 2020-21 Europa League campaign.

They crashed out after a 3-1 aggregate loss to Czech side Slavia Prague.
