Kenny issues ‘real worry’ as £29m duo’s Everton careers ‘could be over’
Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko will be questioning their futures at Everton following the sacking of Rafael Benitez.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid a changing of the guard at Goodison Park.
Everton confirmed the dismissal of Benitez on Sunday (16 January), less than two weeks after Patterson joined from Rangers.
The Toffees then confirmed on Tuesday (18 January) that club legend Duncan Ferguson will once again take caretaker charge of the side for their “upcoming games”.
Mykolenko has also moved to Goodison Park this month – the pair cost a combined £29million initially – and Kenny claims he and Patterson will be worried about their futures.
“The manager plays a big role when you go to any club,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They speak to you and convince you and sell you on the project. Even though it wasn’t going well for Rafa, he’s still a big lure.
“Those players will have been excited about working with such a talented manager.
“He had plans for them. Now they are worried because what if the new manager doesn’t like them?
“I guess that goes for every player but these guys have only been here for two weeks.
“Their Everton careers could now be over before a new guy comes in next week or whatever. It’s a real worry for them.
“That being said, I’m sure they will work hard in training to show why they were signed in the first place.”

Everton are yet to name a permanent replacement for Benitez.
Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney have both been touted as possible targets.
